Apple's upcoming iPhones might feature True Tone display

The upcoming iPhones might borrow a feature from the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. According to a report by MacRumors, the next set of iPhones might feature True Tone displays. This technology uses four-channel ambient light sensors to automatically adapt the colour and intensity of the display to match the current lighting environment. Apple says that this makes reading feel more natural and comfortable.

The report by MacRumors is based on a Barclays research note in which Apple is tipped to unveil three devices tentatively called the Iphone 7s, Iphone 7s Plus and the Iphone 8. This matches up to a report by Nikkei last month, which also tipped Apple to launch three smartphones this year. Nikkei’s report added that one of them may sport a 5.8-inch OLED display.

Apple’s upcoming iPhones are expected to sport a new A-series chip alongside 3GB of RAM. They are also expected to offer 64GB and 256GB of storage. The phones are also tipped to feature a stainless steel and glass back. The tenth anniversary edition of the iPhone may also move the home button behind the display, similar to the setup used by Samsung in the new Galaxy S8 and S8+.
