Google Home, Google Wifi, Chromecast Ultra Tipped to Launch at October 4 Event

Internet giant Google is reportedly very enthusiastic about its October 4 event. After the official announcement to launch its flagship Android 7.1 Nougat-powered smartphones - Pixel and Pixel XL - Google is also tipped to formally announce its voice-assistant device Google Home on October 4. Google Home, unveiled earlier this year, is Google's answer to Amazon Echo to tap into the IoT-powered home devices. Google may also unveil its first 4K 'Chromecast Ultra' dongle at the event, as well as the Google Wifi router.

At its annual developer conference I/O 2016, Google pulled the wraps off its Amazon Echo-like home assistant. Android Police, citing people close to the matter, reported that Google will offer Google Home for a price of $129 (roughly Rs. 8,500) - that's straight $40 off the Amazon Echo's price. It, however, almost equals the price of Amazon Tap. Google will also offer personalised base covers for its home assistant device, as mentioned by Google at its I/O conference.

Google Home is powered by Google Assistant, the same virtual assistant that's present in the company's recently launched messaging app Allo. Google Home will be powered by the voice-activated version of Google Assistant. There is no information on how Google Home will work and what all features it will have in its final build.

The Mountain View company is also said to launch its 4K Chromecast Ultra dongle alongside Google Home. The new Chromecast Ultra will be priced at $69 (roughly Rs. 4,600), as reported by Android Police. While already offering 4K screening capabilities, Google's new Chromecast may also tick the HDR mirroring feature. Google currently offers Chromecast 2 at a price of $35 (Rs. 3,399 in India) that supports 1080p HD videos.

Google is also said to introduce its own-brand Wi-Fi router called Google Wifi at the October 4 event. The Google Wifi is reported to be priced at $129 and will house a feature where it can link multiple Wi-Fi access points to create a unified network, unlike the company's last router, Google OnHub, which was launched at $199.99.

As we mentioned, Google is expected to introduce its Android 7.1 Nougat flagship smartphones - Pixel & Pixel XL at the event. The event was recently pegged to also feature a teaser for its much-rumoured Chrome OS-Android merger, now said to be codenamed 'Andromeda'.
