This information is nothing new, however, many of us do not know about the fact that Google deletes your backups after an inactivity period of two months. A Reddit user posted a thread saying how all of his previous Android device’s data was deleted after he moved to iOS for about two months. 

According to the Google Drive help page, if users don’t check into their Android accounts in two weeks, the Android backup of their current devices starts displaying a countdown of the days left till they are deleted. Google will wipe out the backups after two months and all the app and settings data is deleted, even if you are a paid user. 

Many data storage companies delete user’s data after a fixed period of time, but they give some sort of notification or warning beforehand. The Reddit user said that Google gave no such warning and was not provided with an option to use the Drive storage he pays for as an option for keeping his backup. In order to check their backups, users need to use the Google Drive app. Backups are not shown in the desktop version of Drive and Google should at least start sending reminders in case a user’s device data is close to expiration.

Google is expected to launch its next generation Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones on October 4. A latest report confirms that LG is making the new Pixel 2 XL and HTC will be manufacturing the Pixel 2. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 and not the rumoured Snapdragon 836 mobile platform as reported before. Google is expected to add squeezable edges to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, similar to the one found on HTC's U11.
